Hello everyone,
I am trying to create a new measure in which I index monthly sales to the very first month (i.e., January 2023). My goal is to compare monthly sales to January 2023.
As you can see in the image below, this can be easily done in excel by dividing each cell by an absolute-referenced cell (i.e., D2 in this case since it represents January's sales), then multiplying it by 100. The green-highleted column is what I am trying to compute in Power BI.
Since I work with confidential data, I included tha table above for illustration purposes.
Finally, I am relatively new to Power BI, so I would appreciate it if you would kindly share with me the formulas I need.
Thank you in adavance for your support on this.
Sincerely,
Ali

You are welcome. PBI file attached. Next time, paste the data (rather than sharing a picture).
Hope this helps.
Hey @Ashish_Mathur,
Thank you very much for responding to my question.
Out of curiostiy, how should I alter the functions if I want to extend the date column to include sales in 2024? I added a row in the PBI you shared to include January 2024, and the index value for this particular month was reset to 100 (as shown in the image below). My goal is to have all months, even from a different year, indexed to January 2023.
Thank you very much for your support on this.
Sincerely,
Ali
