Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to calculate what percentile a record is of the total group (basically the reverse of pencentile.inc/exc type functions)
For example, given Iteam and Price below, I'd like to calculate the Percentile in column 3.
The existing formulas only seem to go one way with this-- is there a trick? I also need it to be uneffected by filters, so that if it were filtered to just fruit, Apples would still be in the 10th percentile. Thank you for the help!
| Item | Category | Percentile | Price |
| Bananas | Fruit | 0 | $ 0.50 |
| Apples | Fruit | 0.1 | $ 1.05 |
| Broccoli | Veggie | 0.2 | $ 1.35 |
| Asparagus | Veggie | 0.3 | $ 2.15 |
| Chocolate | Snack | 0.4 | $ 3.20 |
| Chips | Snack | 0.5 | $ 3.20 |
| Cookies | Snack | 0.6 | $ 5.50 |
| Chicken | Meat | 0.7 | $ 7.00 |
| Sandwich | Snack | 0.8 | $ 8.25 |
| Fish | Meat | 0.9 | $ 9.00 |
| Steak | Meat | 1 | $ 12.00 |
We want to help you but your description is too vaugue. Please write it again clearly.
You figures dont make sense to me ☹️
How can you get a % from price?
Don't you need quanity or value?
Apples =- $1.05 and the total is $53.20. So apple % should be 1.97% and not 0.1
Provide example input data as table text (not a screen print) so we can import the data to build a solution for you.
Also provide the example desired output, with a clear description of the process flow.
Remember not to share private data ... we don't want you to get into trouble. 😧
Take care to use the same table and field names in the input, output and description so we can understand your problem and help you.
You will get a quick response if you put time and effort into writing clear problem descriptions.
Vaugue descriptions can waste your time and ourtime.
Look foward to helping you when the above information is forthcoming
