Bugs After Updating Power BI Desktop [Version 2.137.751.0]

Hi everyone,

I recently updated Power BI Desktop to version 2.137.751.0 on my new AI-powered laptop, and I’ve been facing several bugs and issues:

  • Slow performance: The app is running much slower than before, especially when loading large datasets or creating complex visualizations.
  • Crashes: Power BI Desktop crashes randomly, often when I’m editing reports or refreshing data.
  • Data connectivity issues: I’m experiencing problems with connecting to data sources, especially cloud-based services like Azure and SharePoint.
  • Visual glitches: Some charts and visuals aren’t rendering correctly, with elements missing or distorted.
  • Sync issues: Changes I make to reports are not syncing properly across different devices or environments.
  • Export problems: Exporting reports to PDF or other formats either fails or creates corrupted files.
  • Inconsistent filters: Some of the filters and slicers are not working as expected or don’t apply correctly to the data.

I’ve tried reinstalling the app, updating my drivers, and troubleshooting the system settings, but the bugs persist. Has anyone else encountered similar issues after updating Power BI Desktop? Any advice or fixes would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi all,

Regarding the encryption support issue, we see on the internal platform that other engineers have reported and submitted this issue.

The engineers on the product team are now aware and will do their best to resolve the issue. I will update here if there is any progress, so please be patient.

In the meantime, it is recommended that you temporarily roll back to a previous version to resolve this issue.

Hi @v-kaiyue-msft

any good news on the encrypted connection?

There is a new release v2.137.952.0 on 22/10/2024, but still no luck

Cheers,

Hi everyone,

I encountered a similar issue after Power BI Desktop automatically updated to version 2.137.751.0.

In my case, I faced systematic data connectivity issues with my Azure PostgreSQL database (postgres.database.azure.com). When refreshing the data, I was repeatedly prompted to re-enter my credentials, which were no longer recognized. After entering the credentials, I received the following error message:

Encryption support
We cannot connect to the data source using an encrypted connection. To access this data source using an unencrypted connection, click OK.

However, clicking OK did not resolve the issue, and to make things more confusing, the "Encrypt connection" option was NOT selected for this data source.

The fix for me was to roll back to version 2.136.1202.0 (released on Sept. 30, 2024), and the connectivity issue was resolved.

Hope this helps anyone facing the same problem!

Hi @yashsharma

I am an administrator of two Power BI WhatsApp groups in Israel, and I've heard about data connectivity issues, particularly when connecting to cloud-based services like Azure and SharePoint.

I recommend posting these issues with as many details as possible on the official community site here: Power BI Community Issues. Additionally, if you're facing persistent problems, consider downgrading to a previous version of Power BI Desktop, which might resolve the issue until a fix is released.

How would I stop that powerbi updates itself again when installed as .exe?
