Between slicer for date column: Only dates in column should be selectable

Hi guys,

I have a "Between" slicer that refers to a column with sales dates. I want the user to be able to select the start date and end date, so that the visualizations on the dashboard only display the sales data between the selected dates.

However, it seems that the "Between" slicer lets the user select any date between the earliest and latest date in the sales date column, even if the selected date doesn't exist in the column. If I would change to a "Dropdown" slicer, then the slicer only shows the available dates.

Can I somehow adjust the "Between" slicer so that the user can only select dates that exist in the sales date column?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best,

Matisse

Hi @Anonymous ,

According to your description, you can use two slicers to control, slicerA add date field, use "between" to control the start date and end date. slicerB add sales date field. Then use the Edit interaction function to specify that A takes effect on B and does not affect other visuals, as follows.

Hi @Anonymous

That's the way the Between option works on a slicer for dates.

Thanks Phil!

I was just hoping that there might be a way to limit the select options for a "Between" slicer.

I was wondering if I could create a measure and then use it as a filter on the slicer. I got the idea from this post, but couldn't make it work: https://www.kasperonbi.com/showing-only-slicer-data-that-have-facts-in-power-bi-and-other-fun-tricks...
