Between date slicer - calender selection
Hi All, I'm using a between date slicer in my report. I have more than 10 years of data. So when I try to select the calender icon and pick the year dropdown it's not available. I can only get the month picker when I try to select the month header again I see only the arrows for previous year and next year.
A user cannot select the arrows 10 times to choose a year.
I tried this option last month in power bi service and I can able to select the year picker but currently I'm not able to select the year it shows only arrows for changing the year. I'm not sure if I'm doing anything wrong while selecting the header.
Is this option not available currently? As I know in previous version it was available.

So it means currently in Power BI calender data picker it is not possible to select the year picker, as you can see in the image below when the calender is selected first it shows month picker option, when I select the month picker it opens a month picker. After that when I select the year at top it only shows date picker not the year.
And selecting the arrows are the only options to select the year.

My suggestion is to use a Year (Dropdown) slicer together with a Date (Between) slicer as the standard user experience when working with more than ten years of data. This approach is simple and efficient for users, as it allows them to quickly jump to a specific year without repeatedly navigating through the calendar using arrows. It also avoids relying on the calendar control for large date ranges, which can be slow and inconvenient in the Power BI Service.
In summary, combining a Year dropdown with a Between date slicer provides a clearer, faster, and more user-friendly solution for reports with long historical periods.

For a Between date slicer with many years of data, using the calendar arrows is not the most practical way to select an older year.
A faster option is to type the required start or end date directly into the slicer input box instead of navigating through the calendar picker.
You can also use the slider handles to drag the range closer to the required period, depending on how precise the selection needs to be.
If users often need to jump between years, another option is to add a separate Year slicer or use a different date selection design, because the calendar picker itself is not very convenient for long historical ranges.
