Hi all, I am currently learning PowerBI through the Microsoft online course on Coursera. During the course I have uploaded several csv, xlsx, pbix files and completed the exercises until now.
In this exercise I download AdventureWorkSales.pbix to my downloads folder - c/users/harve/downloads.
The file loads in to PowerBI it has 2 tables Customer and Orders. When I click the transform data tab I get the following error, this can be either the Orders or the Customer table.
DataSource.Error: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Users\maharajs\Desktop\Orders.csv'.
Details:
C:\Users\maharajs\Desktop\Orders.csv
file- option and settings- data source settings - BI is trying to load files from this unknown location. I have tried to use the files true location AdventureWorkSales.pbix in my downloads folder - c/users/harve/downloads but it does not recognise this as an acceptable format.
I have now tried to transform data with previous older exercises and they all give the same data source error. All that changes is the 'maharajs' name in the fie location path to another random jumble of letters. each one is distinct to the .pbix file I choose.

Hi @Hmo1
Have you downloaded the corresponding csv files?
Pointing at the location of the pbix won't help.
You need to specificy where you downloaded the Orders.csvOrders.csv.
Here I have an error missing this excel file:
Click datasource settings, click the file and change data source
Use Browser and navigate and click on the Orders.csv file
If you are happy with this answer please mark as a solution for others to find !
Kudos are always appreciated! Check out our free Power BI video courses.
