Azure Cost Management connector causing error 'We cannot convert the value null to type Record.'

Ref: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/desktop-connect-azure-cost-management

Azure Cost Management connector causing intermittent error 'We cannot convert the value null to type Record.'

I have this issue intermittently both on Power BI Web and Desktop.

I reproducted on Desktop today by:

  • Create new Power BI file
  • Get Data > Azure Cost Management
  • Scope: Manually Input Scope
  • Scope Identifier: /providers/Microsoft.Billing/billingAccounts/{billingAccountId}
  • Number of Months: 6

I then got the error:

So at this point, I have not touched the data tables at all, or done any visuals etc.

Any idea what I can do to resolve this intermittent issue or who I should contact?

Hi, @CookieMonster

Do you replace {billingAccountId} with real data?

Does this problem only occur occasionally? Have you successfully connected and used this data source?

Yes I replaced {billingAccountId} with my acutal {billingAccountId}.

Yes it only occurs, occasionally, sometimes it will refresh fine and all data is available as expected, at other times the refresh fails and I get this error.

Hi,  @CookieMonster

Then it's hard to judge.

I doubt whether the data in the source data doesn't meet the type of column after updating. Have you checked it?

I dont have access to the data source, as its Azure Cost Management Connector.

@CookieMonster

So, Generally it's a problem of data type. I can only help here.
