Automating the population of Power BI Columns Descriptions based on data from tables

Hi

We are in the process of building a Data Dictionary of our Data Warehouse which will be stored in SQL Server tables.

The dictionary will hold, amongst other things, table names, column names and column descriptions.

The Power BI data model will be based on the tables held in our SQL Server.

In order to enhance the information presented to the end user, I was wondering if there was a way to automatically update the Power BI Column descriptions with the data held in our Data Dictionary.

Any help/suggestion would be extremely useful.

This tool is great but it does not seem to allow me to get the description from a datasource but rather they still have to be typed in. Do correct me if I'm wrong.

@PhilippeGR No, you are absolutely correct about that. Maybe a potential future feature? Maybe add some kind of mapping to a SQL connection, table and column and automatically pull in the information into Description field? Could be spicy!
