Area Chart and postal code

Hi all,

I try to find a solution for a problem with the area map and postal code.

I want to show the sales amount of an area. Every area consists of all postal codes which have the same first and second character.

For example:

postal code          sales amount

39855                   50.000$

39654                   75.000$

22589                   15.000$

22898                    10.000$

Result

Area        total amount

39            125.000$

22             25.000$

Have anyone an idea to show this in an area chart?

Thanks

Sebastian

Make sure you have an Area column, first two digits of Postal Code. You can use text parsing functions for that. Then, add a measure like so:

Area = LEFT([postal code],2)

Area Amount = CALCULATE(SUM(TableName[sales amount]),ALLEXCEPT(TableName,TableName[Area]))

Create your area chart with [postal code] as Location, [Area] as legend, [Area Amount] as value.

I think that will get you there.
