Apply changes without refreshing data

Hi,

I need to adjust the M code for a query (just to point to the new financial year's chart of accounts). I then want to upload to service and refresh (because it would take hours to refresh on my desktop). However if I don't click apply changes I don't think it will reflect the changes when I refresh on service, and if I do click apply changes it will take hours to refresh on desktop.

I've seen this thread (https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Apply-query-changes-without-refresh-data/m-p/588471), which suggests turning off the refresh setting on the table but for me that leaves an "apply changes" bar at the top of the screen which I assume the changes won't be applied to the service refresh if I upload it?

Please can someone point me in the right direction?

Hi @Anonymous ,

According to the results of my tests，you should  apply in Power BI Desktop. And then it would change in Service later.
