I am working on a reports with size more than 900MB, when ever i do changes in the power query and click on apply and close, Apply Query Changes is taking more than minimun 30 mins in power bi desktop bacuse of huge data.
Is there any way to skip this step? i mean if i apply the query changes, data should not refresh in power bi desktop but changes should reflect in the desktop, so that i can save lot of time, the data refresh obviosuly heppen at Power BI server , so not required at Power BI Desktop level.
or else is there any way to modify the SQL query directly in Power BI Service?
Best Regards
Satya
If you Close and Apply it is going to re-evaluate the query. Sometimes in these situations, I create a smaller version of the dataset for development purposes. The best way to do this is to use the exact same view you are using in SQL and duplicate it with a specification of 1000 rows for example. But, if you are not using SQL this becomes problematic.
What data source are you using?
I use SQL Server, suppose if i follow the same approach , like taking only top 100 records, then where\when we will change to original table or original query.
