I have 2 tables, one is in import mode, second is in direct query.
When I append them PBI automatically changes append table to import mode.
I tried to change this mode in model view in properties but it is greyed out.
Is there a way to append both tables in direct query mode?
Solved! Go to Solution.
In Power BI, when you append tables, the resulting table inherits the storage mode of the tables involved. If one of the tables is in Import mode, the resulting table will also be in Import mode. This is why you are seeing the append table automatically change to Import mode.
Unfortunately, Power BI does not support appending tables where one is in Import mode and the other is in DirectQuery mode while keeping the resulting table in DirectQuery mode. Both tables need to be in DirectQuery mode for the resulting table to also be in DirectQuery mode.

Thank you for confirming that it is not possible.
