Hello,
Is there a way to capture user input as "notes", then have these notes become part of the data set?
**Example:**
- User views PBI report
- User clicks a given record
- "Notes" popup appears
- User enters notes and clicks "Save"
- Notes then become part of the report dataset
I'm thinking I'll have to:
- Create a PowerApp/MS Form tied to a Sharepoint list
- Allow users to input notes in app/form; save to Sharepoint
- Tie Sharepoint list to PBI report
The problem I'm seeing with this approach is:
1. Users cannot select a specific record to report notes against, because there is no tie between the UI and PBI
Has this been solved before? If so, what is the pattern?
Thank you
@ericOnline Hey,
You can use power app write back functionality to add comments on specific dataset.
You can create collection and excute sp to do bulk in datasets.
Thanks
Harish
@ericOnline if you want a single place to enter the note, yes embed Power App in Power BI, you can surely make sure of bookmarks like put a Power App on a different page and on click of a button, let's called "Add Notes" and then bring the page on which you have Power App, so it is away and only shows up when user click the button. I mean you need to go into all these details as you develop the report, you have all the tools available.

@ericOnline Power Apps is your friend and yes you can tie the record level information and pass that to Power App to do the remaining data entry and save in the list.

Thanks for the reply. Could you provide some further details on the approach to take?
Does the PowerApp need to be embedded as a PBI visual to leverage PowerBIIntegration in the PowerApp?
If so, can I hid the PowerApp embedded visual so its not distracting from the report?
