The update to adding an image in Power BI desktop is brutal now. It used to be go to Insert, click Image, and then you could select from your computer desktop files. Now you have to click Image, go to the format pane, select Style, go to the Image, click Browse. Why do we need all the extra steps?
I vote to going back to the old way.
@danielmeyer2,
Agreed on the unnecessary overcomplication just to insert a simple image. But it is what it is for now till someone puts an idea and it gets upvoted enough to revert back to simple old process.

Hi @danielmeyer2 ,
You’re definitely not the only one feeling this change. Microsoft recently redesigned the image experience in Power BI Desktop, and the new workflow moved image selection into the Format pane instead of directly from the Insert menu. It does add extra clicks, and many users have mentioned that it feels slower and less intuitive than the previous method.
Right now, Microsoft hasn’t provided an option to switch back to the old behavior. The change is part of the new “visual container” model, where every visual is created first and then configured in the Format pane. That’s why the image selection now sits under Format > Style > Image.
If you want this reverted or improved, the best place to make your voice heard is the official Power BI Ideas site:

If you submit or upvote an idea there, it helps the product team prioritize improvements. They do pay close attention to usability feedback, especially when many users report the same pain point.
@danielmeyer2 , As per notes same process also allows you to change the image. But you can log an Idea here - https://ideas.powerbi.com/ideas/
