Ability to use DAX function as destination on Button Navigation gone in latest version?

I am setting up customized page navigation with the interest of setting page level permissions/security, based on a couple blog posts I have found, for example this one -

This is all fine and good, EXCEPT that I have the new formatting pane preview enabled, which means being able to set the destination to a calculation in the button navigation is gone -

The fx button is missing, and I can't see any other way to to set the destination to anything other than the pages, which will break my ability to use these methods for setting up page level security.  I'll continue to use without the preview features, but I was wonder if anyone has come across this, or know how it will work in the new formatting pane?

@Anonymous The new Format pane is still in preview which means it is not ready for prime time and is still missing certain settings. Just disable it, restart Desktop and you will be back to the classic format pane.
