Abc analysis

Hi Guys,

Has anyone done an abc anlysis in powerbi itself and not excel, such as the one shown below(probably excel), If so could you'll share the pbix file or the dax codes (need dax for running total value, 80% of running total value , etc) .

Thanks

Aj

I just published a dynamic ABC classification measure here:

if that is helpful at all.

Have you looked at the following patterns? https://www.daxpatterns.com/abc-classification/

Hi @ChrisMendoza ,

Thanks for responding to my query. I had reviewed this blog earlier but couldnt fully understand it as i'm new to dax. Plus isn't it used in excel?

Thanks

Aj

@ajin- If you download the PBIX attached to that Quick Measure, it has a full implementation of that DAX pattern as well as my own implementation of that pattern as a measure. Attaching it here as well. The issue is that the actual DAX is going to depend on your actual data and your actual tables. I used AdentureWorks 2014 as the basis for mine. In order to be that specific, you will need to include example/sample data as text that can be copied and pasted.

Hi,

Share your PBI file and show the expected result.

@Greg_Deckler Will definetly look into the pbi. Further will try to load a sample of my  data or a pbix file to give you a clearer understanding. Thanks again for the  timely reply.

Thanks

Aj

The output is Power Pivot if I recall which is an addon to Excel however, it uses DAX so the pattern could be applied to BI. You'll note that @Greg_Deckler actually has looked at the same document and found a potential limitation or an improvement, however you look at it, it's pretty nifty. To be honest I have yet to have a project with an ABC need so I've never looked into implementation I just knew of ABC.

Good luck in your search.
