Hi PBI Gurus,
I have a choropleth map using the inbuilt (still in preview) Shape Map which uses a custom geojson map as there is no similar equivilent in the standard areas. The map works well when you are looking at the entire main-land area however as you zoom in to an area when it is selected via another visual, it becomes confusing. Think the Mid-West USA rectangle states and counties, all pretty similar so it doesn't assist the user to know where they have zoomed to and what neighbors the area without mousing over the
I have also a list of large towns with lat and lng as nodes so people have a clear understanding of what the area they are looking at. What I am hoping for is to render this node layer (or any inbuilt one) above the choropleth so that they are in sync or to somehow display a base layer with these details as an example below...
Any assistance would be gratefully received to do something like this....
An example of what I am trying to achieve with one or two towns per region which is part of the choropleth

A shape map really only accepts shapes - so you would have to make extra shapes for these towns.
A filled map visual seems to accept both shapes and individual lat/lon pairs. Maybe give that a try.
Worst case there's always Deneb...

Thank you @lbendlin as I hadn't heard about Deneb so I am exceedingly grateful for mentioning it and as you suggest, this is a potential solution. I would like to use the certified version so my json Vega is going to be very large as my 100 polygons are mainly along meandering rivers and ridges.
