Through Once Lake Catalog - Load Parquet file

Hi Fabric Team,

As far as I know, there is no direct way to connect the files and folders in the Lakehouse. If we use the Once Lake Catalog connector, it will connect to the SQL endpoint . Interestingly, the Lakehouse connector in Dataflow Gen2 does allow you to browse to specific file/folder.

Is there is any option available to connect the Parquet file directly Lakhouse folder through PowerBI dekstop?

Hi @Subin ,

Thank you for using Microsoft Community Forum.

You're right; Power BI Desktop doesn't directly browse or connect to files/folders in a Lakehouse like Dataflow Gen2. The OneLake Catalog connector links to the SQL endpoint or uses Direct Lake mode, not the raw Parquet files.

You can connect to a Parquet file in a Lakehouse folder using the following option:

  • In Power BI Desktop, go to "Get Data" > "Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2," and enter the URL/path to your Lakehouse folder (e.g., from the Lakehouse explorer in Fabric). This lets you load the Parquet file directly, bypassing the SQL endpoint.

While the "Parquet" connector is available in Power BI Desktop, it's typically used for accessing local files or Parquet files stored in other locations, not specifically within Lakehouse folders. Power Query Parquet connector - Power Query | Microsoft Learn

Currently, folder browsing capabilities (like those in Dataflow Gen2) aren't available in Power BI Desktop. However, using the Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 connector should meet your needs for accessing Parquet files in your Lakehouse.

Fabric Copy Pipeline Activity:

Hi @v-tsaipranay

I have a pipeline activity that copies an on-premise database table to a Lakehouse. As far as I know, the pipeline can be scheduled a maximum of 10 times. However, I need a way to schedule it dynamically.

I want the pipeline to run every 30 minutes during office hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM). How can I achieve this?
