Power BI report connected to semantic model shows all measures as blank

I have a semantic model connected to a Fabric warehouse. I have created a Power BI report connected to that semantic model, but it shows all measures as blank. Is there any limitation to create a Power BI report connected to a semantic model whose data source is a warehouse?

The semantic model is in import mode and the report is already working fine. I guess it took a while to provision the workspace and that's why the measurements showed blank. Both are in a Pro workspace and the data engineering is in Fabric

Hi @JavierGonz,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum. Thank you, @nilendraFabric, for your valuable input regarding the issue.

After thoroughly reviewing the details you provided, I have identified few limitations that may help resolve the issue. Please follow these steps:

Yes, there are limitations when creating a Power BI report connected to a semantic model whose data source is a Microsoft Fabric warehouse.

In live connection mode, you cannot modify the data model directly, such as adding new columns or tables. You can only create measures, calculated columns, visual calculations, and calculated tables. Only users with Build permission for a semantic model can connect to a published semantic model using the Power BI service live connection.

Hidden columns become visible to users with Build permission when they create live connections to the semantic model in Power BI Desktop. Free users can only see datasets in their My Workspace and in Premium or Fabric-based workspaces.

Due to the live connection, left navigation and modelling are disabled, similar to a SQL Server Analysis Services connection. If the owner modifies the original shared .pbix file, the shared semantic model and report in the Power BI service are overwritten. Reports based on the semantic model are not overwritten, but any changes to the semantic model will be reflected in the report.

Workspace members cannot replace the original shared report. If they attempt to do so, they will be prompted to rename the file and publish. If you delete the shared semantic model in the Power BI service, reports based on that semantic model will no longer function correctly or display visuals.

Kindly refer the below following documentation for better understanding:

Hello @JavierGonz

If you are using default symantic model

Activate “Sync the default Power BI semantic model” in workspace settings to restore auto-syncing

Use “Manage default semantic model” to include all necessary tables/views

just try with very simple measure first
