Hello,
I have an Oracle data source that is defined at a Data Gateway level. I have the user role on this data source.
When I try to configure a data copy in Data Pipeline, with this connection I get the following error :
To solve the problem, I need to be given the "Creator" role on the Data Gateway.
Is this normal?
Because I don't want to create a Data Source, but to create a connection to a Data Source previously created by another person, on which I have the "User" right.
Thank you in advance for your feedback,
Have a nice day,
Vivien

Hello,
In the official documentation here, it is written :
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/data-integration/gateway/manage-security-roles
User: A user is allowed to use the connection (data source) in Power BI reports and Power BI dataflows. A user isn't allowed to see or update credentials.
Nothing is specified for Data Pipelines that come from the Fabric world, not the Power BI world.
So, as I understand it, the User role on a Data Gateway data source is not enough to use a connection.
You need the "Creator" role at Gateway level.
If this is the case, just update the documentation.
Thank in advance,
Vivien
Hi @vivien57 ,
Thanks for using Fabric Community.
At this time, we are reaching out to the internal team to get some help on this .
We will update you once we hear back from them.
Hi @vivien57 ,
Thanks for using Fabric Community.
As it to looks like a permission issue, you need to have enough permission in order to do a connection.
After providing Creator role it got the right permission to proceed. Incase if you have concern in providing any role and want to have detail answer, please open a support ticket.
Hello,
My question is whether the role creator is necessary for Data Pipelines (whereas it isn't for DataFLows). I can't find this information in the official Microsoft documentation.
Have a nice day,
Vivien
