I'm proficient in Python, SQL and Power BI, with 3 years of experience as a Data Analyst.
My goal is to be a end-to-end Data Analyst/Engineer who can do the front-end (model, visualization and report) as well as the middle (data transformation in Python, PySpark, SQL) as well as the back-end engineering in the cloud (which atm I have no experience with).
The DP-203 certificate looks very nice, and I know it expires soon, but I don't think its value will expire that soon, and I'll have no chance to get it after.
I also like it includes Python, PySpark and DataBricks
Or should I go a more softer route of doing DP-600, DP-700 and then Azure (not DP-203) but other certs and practical usage at work and learning it.
Since you already have DP-900 and PL-300, getting DP-203 can be a great next step, especially if you want to transition into a Data Engineer role. It covers essential cloud-based data engineering skills like Azure Data Factory, Databricks, PySpark, and SQL—skills that align with your goal of being an end-to-end Data Analyst/Engineer.
Here’s why DP-203 is a good choice:
✅ Strong Industry Recognition – It's one of the most valued Azure Data Engineering certifications.
✅ Covers Back-End Data Engineering – Helps bridge your gap in cloud experience.
✅ Azure Data Stack Knowledge – Essential if you plan to work in Azure environments.
If it’s expiring soon and you’re interested, it’s worth getting before it's retired. You can always explore DP-600 (if you want to focus more on Fabric) or DP-700 (for AI and analytics in Azure) later.
However, if you prefer a gradual approach, DP-600 and DP-700 can be useful, but DP-203 remains a solid choice for cloud-based data engineering. If you have the time and motivation, go for it before it expires! 🚀
Hi @Monsieboy You can also do all those things in Fabrics also which have been mentioned in Azure DE as Microsoft is Pushing Fabrics that is the main reason they retired DP - 203 you can do that before it expires as mentioned by you itself as most of them are already using Azure and other services its value will not decrease but i think eventually they would have to shift some of the workloads to Fabrics but in both i think you will get similar skill sets if you are solley focused on Power BI not any others then PL - 300 would be effiecient but basic understanding of fabrics would be good as the SKU have been moving to fabric then it would be good for future skill set to know the things
