Run Fabric ADF pipeline in Debug mode

Hi,

Want to understand if there is a way in Fabric ADF to run a pipeline without actually saving it ?

Thanks,

Girish

Hi @girishtharwani2

there is no specific “Debug” mode like in the traditional Azure Data Factory. However, you can still run a pipeline without saving it permanently

Use the “Run” Button: In Fabric’s Data Factory, you can simply click the “Run” button to execute your pipeline. This is equivalent to the “Debug” mode in traditional ADF.

In-Progress Work: You can use the “Run” button to test your pipeline while it’s still in progress. This allows you to iteratively develop and test your pipeline without committing changes

You are correct here @girishtharwani2

Running without saving was not correct in my answer, I have rectified it.

for debug:

Deactivating Activities for Testing: To test specific parts of a pipeline, you can deactivate certain activities (marking them as inactive). This feature lets you skip those activities during a run without deleting them permanently

Thanks

When I run the Fabric pipeline by using Run, it asks me to save it first. Is there anything I am missing out here.

It is not possible to run without saving unfortunately. Hence as stated in my thread, you need to use deactivate functionality or clone to preserve old version so that it can be reverted

In Azure Data Factory and Synapse pipelines, there are concepts of "Git Mode", "Live Mode", "Debug", and "Trigger now". It is simplified in Fabric by just having the Run button.
