No selectable tables or views creating a new semantic model from a lakehouse

Hi,

I'm following the FAIAD labs.

I need to create a new semantic model from a lakehouse.

In the creation pane I can specify a name for the semantic model, I can select a workspace in a Fabric capacity, but none tables and views are visible and selectable.

Any suggests to me in order to solve a such issue, please? Thanks

Hi @pmscorca,

Sometimes the tables don’t appear simply because the view is zoomed in too much — try zooming out (decreasing the zoom level) in the model view. When the screen is zoomed in, the tables can be hidden outside the visible area.

Hope it can help you !

Best regards,

Antoine

Hi pmscorca,

Thank you for your query submitted to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

Based on my understanding, the absence of tables or views when creating a new semantic model from the lakehouse may be due to one or more of the following reasons:

  1. The SQL Analytics Endpoint has not yet registered the lakehouse tables as eligible for modelling.
  2. The tables are not registered as Delta tables.
  3. You do not possess sufficient workspace or data read permissions to view them.

As a result, the semantic model creation dialog may display no selectable objects.

Please follow the steps below, which may help in resolving the issue:

  1. In the lakehouse, open the Tables tab and verify that the datasets are listed as Delta tables, and not merely files such as Parquet or CSV. If they are files, create tables using Load to Table or CREATE TABLE AS SELECT.
  2. Navigate to the Lakehouse or SQL Analytics Endpoint, click on New Semantic Model, and then refresh or reload the schema if the tables are not visible yet.
  3. Ensure that you hold at least the Member or Contributor role in the workspace, and that you have ReadData or ReadAll access on the lakehouse.
  4. If the tables still do not appear, please try an incognito browser session to rule out caching.

We hope the information provided will assist in resolving the issue. Should you have any further queries, please feel free to contact the Microsoft Fabric Community.

Thank you.

Hi,

I think that the issue is a different trouble.

I've the same problem also on another tenant. For this second tenant I use a different account and a my colleague uses the same account: I cannot see any lakehouse tables/views for the semantic model creation and my colleague can accomplish a such task.

I don't understand this behaviour.

I've used the Edge browser, the Chrome browser and I've tried to use an inprivate navigation without any results.

I can open this pane without seeing any lakehouse objects:

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I've solved zooming out in the browser.

Many thanks
