Hi everyone,
I'm currently looking for a solution to implement row level security based on group membership for lakehouse tables.
From what Microsoft describes in the documentation only the USER_NAME(), SUSER_NAME() and SUSER_SNAME() are currently supported, which I dont find helpfull.
Is there any workaround, I havent found yet?
Thx and KR
Hi @MaxBronder ,
Thanks for using Fabric Community.
Did you checked this doc?
Row-level security in Fabric data warehousing - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn
Hope this is helpful Please let me know if you have further queries.
Hi,
yes I checked the doc, but as I said in my message, there only the USER_NAME() function is used and I haven't found smth similar for groups.
Hi @MaxBronder ,
Currently Fabric only supports the functionalities present in the doc. However, your suggestion is definitely valuable! We use customer feedback like yours to prioritize future features. The more users who request the ability to customize backgrounds, the higher it moves on our list.
Appreciate if you could share the feedback on our Microsoft Fabric Ideas. Which would be open for the user community to upvote & comment on. This allows our product teams to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature backlog and gives insight into the potential impact of implementing the suggested feature.
I hope this information helps. If you have any further queries please do let us know.
Thanks
Hi @MaxBronder ,

Hi @Anonymous
it´s an answer but definitely not a solution.
Basically you´re saying that currently there is no way to implement row level security for AD groups, correct?
It´s very disapointing, I can hardly imagine any use case where usernames would make any sense.
Can you at least tell if it is on the roadmap to add ad group support?
thx and KR
