Sorry for so stupid question. But I am not sure how to setup environment variables for Spark notebook/jobs. I thought Environments should solve this, but do not know how. Whats your approach ?
I am sorry, but no. This is not a solution. Notebook is in 99,9% consumer of env. variables.
But maybe I am completely lost here. I would expect Environment is for setting envs.
How your solution looks like ? Ho do you write envs. for whole workspace when deploying notebooks from one env to another ? This seems to me you have hardcoded it in the notebook and its totally useless. Thanks for explanation.
Hi @evrise
Thanks for the explaination. Currently environment variables are not supported in Fabric yet.
Appreciate if you could share the feedback on our feedback channel. Which would be open for the user community to upvote & comment on. This allows our product teams to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature backlog and gives insight into the potential impact of implementing the suggested feature.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further queries.
Hi @evrise
We haven’t heard from you on the last response and was just checking back to see if your query got resolved. Otherwise, will respond back with the more details and we will try to help.
Thanks
Hi @Anonymous . Thanks for information. But to be honest it only added another reason, to move back to Databricks. It would be great to have a discussion directly with Product Owner, but I understand s/he will not follow Community forum. As Environments are in public preview, it would be really interesting to know, why somebody decided the something so obvious as ENV vars are not feature included. I would need another 8 working hours to write to feedback channels what elementary is missing or not working in GA part of Fabric. 😞 I would like, but do not have it, thanks for understanding. 😞
Hi @evrise
I completely understand your frustration with the limitations you're encountering with the current platform. It's frustrating when features that seem essential are missing or not functioning as expected, especially when you're trying to make the most out of your work. Your desire to have a direct discussion with the Product Owner makes complete sense, as it would provide valuable insights into the decision-making process behind these features.
It's disappointing that such basic functionalities like ENV vars aren't included in the current iteration of Environments, especially considering its importance in many workflows. Your willingness to invest additional time to provide feedback highlights your dedication to improving the platform for yourself and others.
While I can't directly facilitate a conversation with the Product Owner through this forum, I can certainly pass along your sentiments and feedback to the appropriate channels. Your input is invaluable in shaping the future direction of the platform, and I appreciate your understanding as we work to address these issues. If there's anything else I can assist you with or if you'd like to explore any alternative solutions in the meantime, please don't hesitate to let me know.
And I will update you once we have insights from the internal product team.
Thank you.
