sorting on a joined table custom sort

Hi.  I created a custom sort table and joined it to my values table so that I could sort time, on an X axis, alphabetically.  For some reason, it starts out sequentially but stops after 8am.  This should be relatively simply as I have a table with a custom sort, it's joined on a 1:M, but for some reason, it's not applying it.  I have the custom sort field in the 'tooltips' field.

Hi @cuseman03

Thank you for using Microsoft Community Forum. provided some steps as per your quetion, if still your facing the problem,please share sample data or PBIX file.

  • Check that the relationship between TimeSort and SalesData is set up correctly (should be active and properly joined).

  • In Data View, click on the X-axis field in SalesData. Then, from the top menu, pick Sort By Column and choose the sort order column from TimeSort.

  • Make sure you’re not using the sort order column in the Tooltips—sorting works through the Sort By Column setting, not the Tooltips.

unfortunately,  none of those work

@cuseman03,

If you could share a link (OneDrive, etc.) to a sample pbix illustrating the issue, I'll take a look.

@cuseman03,

In Table view, try sorting StartTimeRange by SortOrder (instructions below):

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-sort-by-column

In the visual, use TimeSort[StartTimeRange] in the X axis.
