I am not sure if this is the right section of the forum to be asking this, but I am trying to get a Shape Map in PowerBi using shapefiles. I have tried numerous times and watched many videos but cannot seem to figure out how ot upload my shp file (and other files) to powerBi and get them to fully load in the Shape Map. I have also installed the shape map visual to my PowerBi.
I am trying to get a colored shape map of the US cenus data -- so I have the excel data for population (example) and now i want to use the US census tract data as the map for showing a heat map for population in each city/county based of its geoid or code. If anyone has any tips let me know!

How To Create Custom Shape Maps for Power BI — DiscoverEI
Before adding a custom spatial file to the Shape Map visual object in Power BI, we need it to make sure it is formatted correctly. The required format for the shape map is:
File Type: The spatial file needs to be in JSON format.
File Size: It's a good idea to simplify your spatial file first.
Projection: Make sure your spatial file is projected correctly.
