Revenue per day

Hi everyone,

We invoice our clients on a monthly basis, hence there is only one line for revenue in our sales data for each customer. Our costs are based on timesheets which is daily.

I am trying to calculate a daily estimated gross profit, however I am struggling to work out the DAX to distribute the revenue daily, then have it multiply by days selected in the timeline slicer.

Would appreciate any assitance with this!

Thanks,

Laura

Apportion data accordingly in Power Query by the day and you'll have an easy time calculating everything. Do not fall into the trap of thinking that everything should be dealt with in DAX. If you do the preparation work in Power Query, DAX will not only be fast. It will be SIMPLE.

@Lroemekso , You can try like

Avg sales per day =averageX(summarize(Table, table[customer], table[Month-Year], "_1", sum(Table[sales]),"_2",day(eomonth(Table[Date],0))),[_1]/[_2])

Where month year = format([Date],"YYYYMM") // can be any other month format

Or you can allocate the date using this code

@Lroemekso - I've done some work around this kind of thing (reconciling different time intervals) For example: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Quick-Measures-Gallery/Periodic-Revenue-Reverse-YTD/m-p/373185#M111

But, Not really enough information to go on, please first check if your issue is a common issue listed here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/Before-You-Post-Read-This/ba-p/1116882

Also, please see this post regarding How to Get Your Question Answered Quickly: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/How-to-Get-Your-Question-Answered-Quickly/ba-p/38490

The most important parts are:
1. Sample data as text, use the table tool in the editing bar
2. Expected output from sample data
3. Explanation in words of how to get from 1. to 2.
