Query on DAX Code (SUMX)

Hi All,

I have two tables as below Events and Registrants

Events:

EventId EventName
1 A
2 B

Registrants:
EventId RegisterId Views
1            1                2
1            2                4
2            1                5

I would like to add new column to EventTable called TotalViews

Please suggest how can I achive it. I tried using SUMX but not working as expected

EventId EventName TotalViews
1           A                  6
2           B                  5

Thanks,

Abhiram

Hi, @abhiram342 , you might want to try,

first, create a relationship between Events[EventsId] (1:*) Registrants[EventsId];

then, this DAX formula in calculated column does the trick,

TotalViews = CALCULATE( SUM(Registrants[Views]) )

Thanks to the great efforts by MS engineers to simplify syntax of DAX! Most beginners are SUCCESSFULLY MISLED to think that they could easily master DAX; but it turns out that the intricacy of the most frequently used RANKX() is still way beyond their comprehension!

DAX is simple, but NOT EASY!
