LY Vs Current

So i have data in one sheet from year 2009 to 2019(current) mind you its all in one excel spreadsheet, what i want to do is take all that infor and conpare each year to previous years in one table and the difference between them, and the percentage growth, how do i go about this?

I have tried using the measures as follows, but i think my data is not suitable for these measures as they come out as the total sum of ALL the years together: 

> Total Sales(Placements) = Sum( sheet 1[fee])

> Total Sales LY = CALCULATE([Total sales],SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR(Deals[Start date].[Date]))

>Diff between LY and TY = [Total sales] - [Total Sales LY]

> % Profit = Divide ([Total sales], [total sales LY],0)

In the end what i get is the Total sales from 2009 - 2019 (which i dont want, i want the total sum of each year)

and then the calculation of previous years comes out as the same as the total sales(which i actualy want to show the previous totals for each year, for example:

i want 2010 to be compared to 2009 and then the difference between them and then the pencentage profit and etc for each year after.

@Andykins2000 as best practice you should add date dimension in your data model , set relationship it with deal table and from there this calculation will be super easy. Just change Deals.[Start Date] with date from date dimension table.
