LASTNOBLANK() and a date filter

I have a table with dates on column A and then an ID on column B.

I want to get the date for the last non-blank ID. This is simple.

Then I want to show it on a table and filter for today's month.

How do I get the date to show up if it's earlier than today? How do I get around the date filter?

If you want to to a calculation but have an external filter context (like a date filter)

The standard approach is to use CALCULATE() to do the calculation, be it can modify the surrounding filter context. You can add an ALL(myTable) argument to the calculate, and it will remove the surrounding filters (for the duration of the calculation). 
Post some sample data and the measure or calculated column you're using if you need more help.
