How to create a measure that shows top 1 category and counts its value by month

Hi I`m pretty new with Power BI.

I just want to be able to create a measure that will let me show a top 1 Event and the total number of tickets sold by the month for only this top1 Event by month,

So there is the column called Events that shows events names and column called tickets shows the ticket ids.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi,

I am not sure if I understood your question correctly, but I tried to create a sample pbix file like below.

Please check the below picture and the attached pbix file.

Picture1.png

Tickets count top one: =
IF (
    HASONEVALUE ( 'Calendar'[Month Name] ),
    CALCULATE (
        COUNTROWS ( VALUES ( Data[Ticket] ) ),
        KEEPFILTERS (
            TOPN (
                1,
                ALL ( Event[Event] ),
                CALCULATE ( COUNTROWS ( VALUES ( Data[Ticket] ) ) ), DESC
            )
        )
    )
)

Hi @Jihwan_Kim Thanks a lot!! that`s what I wanted to show. I don`t know if you can help me also with a measure that is very similar but with some differences.

I would like to show now the top 1 event type by month and year counting the EventID. (for example in March 2021 the top one event is Rock concert with 3 events and so on). In this case, some rows have repeated eventID so I`m trying to use the distinct count. Also, there are some events that start in a month but end next month, so want to use the start date column as a reference so the events are not counted twice for different months.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @maneschr2022

do you have a date table connected to your table through date column? If so does the date table have Moth-Year column?

Hi @tamerj1 yes I have connected a table with year, month, date for that. I got a recent post, I don`t know if you can help me with that one
