Getting a Single Variable from a sum of a column

I think there is a simple answer to this question.

I am trying to create a variable with a single value of the sum of another column.

The column that has the values I want summed is Time_Excluded (it is a big long formula).

Where I want one value is currently the Time_Excluded_Per_Name below.

Time_Excluded_Per_Name = CALCULATE(sum(Opportunity[Time_Excluded]),
ALLEXCEPT(Opportunity,Opportunity[Name]))

Should this be a measure rather than a column?

Thanks.

Steve

Yes, you are using it in a matrix visual and need to evaluate the filter context. Add it as a measure.
