Date columns not acting as Date columns... across all my reports?

I'm at a complete loss as to what to do next?

My date columns in my reports appear with a calendar beside them and the hierarcy applied as per the auto settings. When I put the date in an axes graph it acts as a date. The moment I try and use any DATE DAX they won't showup.

For example, when i try and use DATEDIFF neither of my start and or end date columns appear when i start to type them out.

I am at a complete loss as to what to do next?

Hi, @sharpedogs , didn't you already in the Data view of Power BI to confirm the formats of the columns of interest?

Thanks to the great efforts by MS engineers to simplify syntax of DAX! Most beginners are SUCCESSFULLY MISLED to think that they could easily master DAX; but it turns out that the intricacy of the most frequently used RANKX() is still way beyond their comprehension!

DAX is simple, but NOT EASY!

Hi,

As it turns out the messure i am using DATEDIFF needs to be created as a "new column". The Microsoft documentaion does not call that out.
