Calculate Date (Gantt Chart)

Hello, i'm making a Gantt chart where i have several projects and these projects have several tasks but I would like only the start and end date to be displayed for 1 project, for example in this project i have 4 tasksexcel.JPG

So when they are added to the diagram they apper like this

Gantt.JPG

And i just want a line on the Gant chart with the start on August 8 and the end on Agust 17 and not 4 lines. What can i do?

In Power BI, you can create a Gantt chart that displays a single line for a project with its start and end dates. To achieve this, you can follow these steps:

  1. Data Preparation:

    • Make sure your dataset includes a field for project names, task names, start dates, and end dates.
  2. Create a Gantt Chart Visualization:

    • Create a Gantt chart visualization in Power BI.
  3. Assign Data to Categories:

    • Drag the "Project" field to the "Axis" or "Categories" area of the Gantt chart visualization.
  4. Assign Dates to Fields:

    • Drag the "Start Date" field to the "Start Date" or "Start" area of the Gantt chart visualization.
    • Drag the "End Date" field to the "End Date" or "End" area of the Gantt chart visualization.
  5. Customize the Gantt Chart:

    • To display only a single line for each project, you need to ensure that the data is aggregated at the project level. You can do this by using the "Aggregation" options or "Group By" in the "Modeling" tab.
  6. Set Visual-Level Filters:

    • Apply filters to show data for a specific project. You can use slicers or filters in Power BI to select the project you want to display.
  7. Format and Customize:

    • Format the Gantt chart to make it visually appealing and adjust labels, colors, and other visual elements to match your design preferences.
  8. Testing:

    • Check your Gantt chart by selecting different projects using the filters you applied. It should display only one line at a time, showing the start and end dates for the selected project.

By following these steps, you can create a Gantt chart in Power BI that displays a single line for each project, indicating the start and end dates for that project without displaying individual lines for each task within the project.
