How to make subtotals and totals (re)calculate a measure - instead of SUM/AVG

Hello,

We have a custom viz which calculates the difference between fields - it works properly within the grid.  This is similar to the standard matrix viz.
But, for totals and subtotals --when the 'Value' field is a measure and needs to be recalc'ed - it only has the option to SUM/AVG - we need it to recalc the measure.  What settings are needed to accomplish this?
