Cross-filtering data using custom network visuals

I tried using Network Navigator.

It works fine and crossfilters the other visuals, but does not have functionality for drawing arrows on the links.

So I created a custom visual using  R and pbiviz.

The custom visual cannot crossfilter. 

Somewhere it talks about how R and Python visuals cannot crossfilter. is this applicable to visuals based on scripts writtrn inside powerBi or for custom visuals written outside powerbi and packaged using pbiviz.

If so, what is the langauge that the network navigator is written in (typescript?) and how does it have the functionality to cross filter?

Can anyone help?
