In this chapter, we're going to jump right in and start getting our hands dirty. In the first article “The path to Microsoft Fabric - Chapter 1 - The first step”, I chatted about the theory and how to get ready for the certification. Now, in this article, I'd love to share some tips on how you can gain some hands-on experience.
As well as the learning modules that Microsoft provides, there are lots of other great resources to help you learn Microsoft Fabric. These include additional tutorials, practical exercises and assessments. I've put together a list of different sources that I think you'll find really helpful!
We've got another great resource for you! It's called Microsoft Learn Together. We've got 10 videos that you can watch over and over again, or use to learn the certification materials.
And there are Microsoft Fabric exercises, too! There are lots of exercises that focus on specific components of MS Fabric, which I think you'll find really helpful!
There are also End-to-end tutorials: We've put together a comprehensive list of end-to-end tutorials available in Microsoft Fabric to make your learning journey as smooth as possible!
Let's dive into the first one together: "Analyzing Wildlife Data with Microsoft Fabric". This is a great end-to-end workshop on how you can build a powerful data analytics solution using Microsoft Fabric. Once you've finished the learning modules and one or another practical exercise, you might want to pursue certification or attend one of the applied skills assessments. We're so excited to introduce Applied Skills, Microsoft's new scenario-based credential that shows off your amazing skills!
I'd highly recommend implementing a data warehouse in Microsoft Fabric, as well as a lakehouse. You should also consider implementing a real-time intelligence solution and a data science and machine learning solution with Microsoft Fabric. For each of them, you have two hours to complete a list of tasks in order to visualize the data in Power BI. The great thing is that you get your results within minutes, whether or not you've passed the exam. Microsoft also provides you with a certificate.
I really hope this information finds you well and helps you in learning Microsoft Fabric.
I wish you a lot of fun learning and much success!
