Data Activator and Primary Key

Hi,

What happens if I need to use data activator with a data streaming which don't have a single field as primary key?

What's exactly the role of the primary key on scenarios like this?

What happens if I point to a field which is not primary key?

Pointing a primary key is like the first step on data activator. It can do a lot for my scenarios, but I get stuck on the begining whithout understand the consequence of pointing a field which is not a key.

Kind Regards,

Dennes

Hi @DennesTorres ,

If a single primary key is not available, consider assigning multiple data streams to a single object, ensuring the key column chosen references the same object IDs used when the object was initially created.

If you point to a field that is not a primary key, there could be challenges in ensuring the uniqueness of each object, which may lead to inaccurate data association, monitoring, and analysis. The integrity of the data and the correct functioning of properties and triggers related to the object might be compromised. Therefore, it's essential to choose a key column that can uniquely identify each object to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the data being monitored.

Hi,

Thank you!

In the end, the question was too basic because the name "primary key" was puzzling me. It's not a "fact" primary key, but a dimension primary key, which identifies the object but naturally it will repeat many times on the stream.

Kind Regards,

Dennes
