Report Refreshing Problem - SQL Server Database

It is not running Management Studio that is affecting this issue. The "problem" here is that to access an on-prem SQL Server the Power BI cloud service needs to connect through a data gateway. You must currently be running this gateway as a personal gateway on your machine. The way to get this to work when your machine is not switched on or connected is to setup another machine with a "standard" gateway. If you check the docs here On-premises data gateway - Power BI | Microsoft Docs you can see that there are a few different options for setting up data gateways.
To get a standard gateway setup you will probably need to talk to your IT department as you will need a server to run it on and a Power BI Admin to configure it.
