Power BI Report Server (September 2025) - Are Python Visuals Supported?

Hi all,

I am using Power BI Report Server September 2025 (on-premises) but will upgrade to May 2026.

I have a Power BI report that contains a Python visual. When opening the report, I receive the following error:

"Python visuals are currently disabled in your organization."

I found documentation describing the"R and Python visuals" tenant setting in the Power BI Service / Fabric Admin Portal, but Power BI Report Server does not have a corresponding tenant configuration.

My questions:

  1. Are Python visuals officially supported in Power BI Report Server September 2025 (and May 2026)?
  2. If yes, where can they be enabled or configured on PBIRS?
  3. If not supported, is there any official Microsoft documentation that explicitly states this limitation?
  4. Has anyone successfully rendered Python visuals in PBIRS September 2025 (and May 2026)?

I am specifically asking about Power BI Report Server (on-premises), not Power BI Service / Fabric.

Thanks in advance for any clarification or official references.

    Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community Forum, Below are the few points which can resolve your issue. Let us know if you need any further assistance.

    Based on Microsoft documentation, Python visuals are not supported in Power BI Report Server (PBIRS). Therefore, there is no PBIRS tenant setting or configuration available to enable Python visuals. The "R and Python visuals" setting in the Power BI/Fabric Admin Portal applies to the Power BI Service and does not apply to Power BI Report Server.

    Microsoft's Compare Power BI Report Server and Power BI Service documentation explicitly lists Python scripts and visuals as unsupported in Power BI Report Server. Therefore, the error you are seeing is expected behavior and is not related to a missing PBIRS configuration.

    As a workaround, you would need to replace the Python visual with a visual supported by PBIRS, or host the report in Power BI Service if Python visuals are required.

    Yes, the limitation also applies to Power BI Report Server May 2026.

    Python scripts and Python visuals are still not supported in Power BI Report Server, including the May 2026 release. They are supported in Power BI Desktop and the Power BI Service, but not for reports hosted on Power BI Report Server.

    Therefore, upgrading from September 2025 to May 2026 would not enable Python visuals on PBIRS.

    For clarity: Does this limitation also apply to Power BI Report Server May 2026? In other words, are Python visuals still unsupported in the May 2026 release as well?
