Input Slicer is working with numeric fields in desktop and not working in PBIRS, is it a bug?

  • Hello klimkiv

Yes, this is currently by design.

The new Input Slicer visual in Power BI Desktop / PBIRS is built primarily as a text-matching search filter (supporting string operators like Contains, Starts with, Is, etc.).

Direct numeric column types (such as whole numbers, decimals, or currency) are not supported out of the box for free-text typing in the Input Slicer.

If you need free-text search on numeric values (such as typing an exact ID, postal code, or account number), create a calculated column or convert the field data type to Text in Power Query.

If you need mathematical range filtering (e.g., between, greater than, or less than), use the standard Slicer visual set to the Between or Numeric Range slider style rather than the Input Slicer.

    Thanks
