auto refresh

hi,

 

i have two questions about data refresh

first of all - if i publish report\dashboard with direct query, does it mean that auto refresh occures?

second - if i'm doing extract connection, is it 250 MB capacity?, and how can i auto refresh the extract file?

    MP_123 DirectQuery is a mechanism for PowerBI.com to connect to your on-prem data source where data is not imported into PowerBI. Therefore using DirectQuery means if your on-prem data source gets updated you will see it reflected in your report in PowerBI.com. However for that to work once your report is published you have to enable DirectQuery via enterprise gateway.

      just want to know that i understand you -

      on direct query i have to enable in the gateway so my report will be published?

        MP_123 When you publish your report from PBI desktop it will be published however when you visit that report in Powerbi.com you won't be able to access that report and it will ask you to setup enterprise gateway. That is when you should ensure that you have enterprise gateway running for DirectQuery to work.

         

        Publish your report from PBI desktop and then follow prompts it gives you when you access that report in PBI service. If you want to ensure it works first time you publish, then setup enterprise gateway before publishing your report. Hope this make sense. :smileyhappy:
