    Hi ianmonat,

     

    If you want the tooltip shows one value, you can filter the category by slicer or visual level filter.

     

    Currently, power bi desktops do not support manual select tooltips info, you can vote below idea:

    Choose additional tooltip info

Hi ianmonat, what you could do is to create a calculated measure, in which you calculate the MIN or the MAX value of your data being viewed. By doing this MIN or MAX, this will only return one value. 

 

You can then within your Calculated Measure put in some Text Values to give it the description you require.

 

Have a look at this blog post by Dustin Ryan explaining how he achived this.

And then finally you can put your Calculated Measure into the Tooltips area.
