Private Link
Hi All,
I have a client that is moving onto Microsoft Fabric, and they would like to enable a private link to connect to their on-premises database.
From what I have read and understand, this comes with some complications. They will need to enable private endpoints and disable public access to their Fabric tenant.
During our discussion, it also came up that they would like to start using Co-Pilot for self-service. However, according to the documentation, Co-Pilot is not available when they enable a private link.
Is this correct, or is there another workaround to set up a secure connection to their on-premises database?
Regards,
Hello FrancoisCross
Co-Pilot sidecar chat fails when private links are enabled and public access is disabled. The error `"I'm sorry, but I encountered an error..."` occurs, though inline code completion and quick actions still work
No workaround exists for this limitation as of February 2025
If Co-Pilot’s chat feature is critical, consider maintaining limited public access (`Block Public Internet Access = Disabled`) while using private endpoints for internal traffic. This allows Co-Pilot functionality but reduces isolation.

If this is helpful please accept the solution
