Git exception should be more specific

I was unable to pull updates from git, with the below screenshot:

But it's hard to verify which code paragraph is having issues, which made me hard to identify the issue.

would that be possible to improve the error message to something like:

Thanks!

  • Was this a notebook created by AI by any chance? If so, check the metadata for the notebook.

      Hi Kevin,

Thank you for your suggestions, we've figured out this issue by comparing the committed version of mentioned python file.

However, the initial error message is not very clear to narrow down the issue, thus raised this request.

I've posted this request to the IDEAS, hope that would help

thank you very much for your suggestions

  • Hi Jiahui_Song, thanks for flagging this. The notebook-content.py part of the error does suggest the file in the repo has extra text after the JSON, which is often a leftover merge conflict marker or a manual edit. Opening that file in the Git repo and checking the end of it can usually pinpoint the problem for now. A more specific message with the item name and line would clearly help, so it is worth adding as an idea on Fabric Ideas where others can vote on it.
