Hello everyone, I have a short question - do you know anything about the possible root cause of the following issue: the user has tried to delete the rights of the group. He got the following error: "the user or group name is not recognized" after some analysis, it appeared to be that the group is deactivated in AD Do you maybe know if there is some correlation between the deactived user and the their rights deletion? Technology: Power BI Report Server Thanks in advance for the answer!997Views0likes2CommentsUser Permissions Error with link
Hello! We publish reports to a local Report Server. In one report (Report 1) I have a button that has a link to open another report (Report 2). When users click on the button, the Report Server returns a User permissions error. This is strange because I have other reports with the same button and when users press the button, it opens Report 2 without any error. The same is true if users access Report 2 directly. Report 1 retrieves data from a SQL server via direct query, whereas all other reports use the data import method. Report 1 has assigned credentials in the Data Sources pane of the report so that the user credentials are not used with the SQL server. Users are assigned Roles in Report 1 using individual usernames but Report 2 and all other reports via active directory groups. If a user is assigned a Role in Report 2 using their explicit username, the error no longer appears and they can access Report 2. Can anyone explain why this is happening? Is the direct query report trying to use the assigned credentials in the Data Sources pane of Report 1 when accessing Report 2 via the link? Thanks for any help anyone can provide! - - - Andrew2.1KViews0likes3CommentsUser Report Access for all reports
Hi , I have nearly 200 reports in our Power BI Report server, i'm aware of providing report access by opening individual reports (inside Manage & security) but is there any option to provide access in 1 step to access all 200 reports rather than opening all reports. Kindly advice.Solved3.9KViews0likes6CommentsPower BI new created user can not see data in report server while all other users can
I am trying to test how row level security works. I have a live connection between Power BI and my data model in SSAS. In order to test the row level security I have created a new user. I followed the row level security tutorial on the MS website but kept having trouble because when i logged in with the user in Report Server i could not see any data. All I could see was the blank table. However, what I realised was that even if i didn't put any row filters or even if I assigned the user as admin it still could not see any data. Here is what I see when i login with this test user (even though they now have an admin role and should see all the data): Would anyone be able to assist with this? When I login with my own user in report server I can see all the data fine. Would really appreciate the help.819Views0likes2CommentsReport User Based Data Permissions
Our environment is Microsoft Power BI Desktop (optimized for Report Server) Version: 2.76.5678.1521 64-bit (January, 2020). Microsoft Power BI Report Server Version 15.0.1102.759 (January 2020). We have a report that connects to the data source (an SQL Server database) through a service account. We want this report to be viewable by everyone os we need to add some form of security so that Company A cannot look at Company B's results. Is it possible to grab a dataset and pass it to the Power Bi report to use, or pass their credentials so that the queries can limit the data they see? As it connects to the data source through row a service account, it does not look like row level security will be the solution. We are able to get the users credentials through C#. Is there any way to pass them to the report? Or, get the allowed data beforehand and pass it to the report (like a virtual flat file)? Also, through report security is also based on AD groups so the user login is recognized. Is there any way the report can retrieve the AD user login from the Power BI Report Server? Looking for a solution, suggestions, tips.902Views0likes1CommentCustomise User permission Error message
Hi, I would like to customise the error message that is showed in the 'User Permissions Error' window when an unauthorised user opens my embedded Power BI report URL. I have my Power BI report maintained in the Power Bi Report Server. Please let me know if this is possible through any configuration settings. Thanks in advance.
