Good Afternoon, Power BI newbie here. I'm getting a connection issue trying to open a Power BI Report from Sharepoint. Any idea what the issue could be? Hi, I've created a report with a Sharepoint Folder data source (specificaly, an excel xlsx file in a folder of my Sharepoint site). My Sharepoint is hosted on Sharepint Online and I access it via Organizational Credentials. I've been able to do it in Power BI Desktop for Report Server (October 2017). Once I publish my report to POwer BI Server, I go to "Manage > Data Source" , there in Credentials I can only choose Anoymous or WIndows Authentication. Is there a way to have a report pulling data from Sharepoint Online from Power BI Server as of now? (and have it refresh on a scheduled basis). THe idea is to have some select users edit data in the EXcel file, and management can open the report done in POwerBI. (I'd like to avoid having to open the report in PowerBI Desktop and republish it everytime there is a change in the data source, which is what I am doing for now.)48KViews9likes35CommentsExporting and importing Sharepoint Sites tenant to tenant
Hello everyone, I am still working on enabling the export and import of a SharePoint page between tenants. I've set up a SharePoint site with various security groups, flows, forms, and PowerApps linked together to collaborate. I've noticed that through Power Admin, flows and PowerApps can be saved. However, SharePoint sites cannot be saved using this method. I found the following site that has helped me a bit further: https://pnp.github.io/script-samples/spo-export-site-all-content/README.html?tabs=pnpps. It contains a PowerShell script. The issue with this script is that it exports and imports the list names but only adds the column headers for one list. Additionally, it doesn't include the SharePoint pages. From what I understand by reading the site where this code is hosted, it should be able to do so. Can anyone help me further or indicate what I might be doing wrong or suggest an alternative method? Thanks in advance! LisanneSolved2.9KViews0likes2Commentsexporting and importing sharepoint sites
Good morning everyone! I've set up a SharePoint site with various security groups, flows, forms, and PowerApps linked together to collaborate. What I'd like to achieve is the ability to export this setup and import it into another environment. I've noticed that through Power Admin, flows and PowerApps can be saved. However, SharePoint sites cannot be saved using this method. I've read online that this might be achievable with PowerShell using the Export-SPWeb command. However, I'm not entirely clear on the exact steps to follow. Does anyone have experience with exporting and importing SharePoint sites? Could you please provide a step-by-step guide on how to do this? If there's an alternative method other than the command mentioned above, I'd also appreciate hearing about it. Hi everyone: I select sharepoint folder as datasource when i make report in power bi desktop. I can refresh it in the power bi desktop. After i upload the report on the report server. I try to connect the datasource and schedule refresh.Authentication Type has two options, anonymous and window authentication. So i think it is sharepoint on premises.Because if it is sharepoint online.it shouldn't have these options. However, unexpected error encountered when i choose the two options. I use my corporate domain and username when the authentication is windows authentication. The same error .Log on failed. Ensure the user name and password are correct. I wish you can help me to solve this issue. You can save my life!3.7KViews0likes6CommentsHow to Edit and Save Power BI Report embedded in Sharepoint online.

I have a published report with several pages that I want to use in Sharepoint. On teh PowerBI desktop, I use a filter that applies to all pages to select a single customer for the presentation of the report to the Sharepoint page using the PowerBI WebPart. I want to create multiple SharePoint pages on the same SharePoint site, each with a different customer filterred. I also need to lock the filters once set so that users cannot change the customer being viewed on a SharePoint page. Is that possible?Solved2.9KViews0likes4CommentsInserting images from company sharepoint folder to Power BI Report Builder (Not Working)
I am trying to insert images into a Report Builder report, the img source is a URL to a SharePoint folder but when the report is run no image appears. I have tried running the report (non-locally) hosted in a power bi workspace but that didn't work either. My settings: In Report Builder I have the imagebox properties set to 'external' and the field expression does pull in the correct URL (I copied the expression into the tooltip to check if the URL was correct). If that URL is put into my browser the image loads in there with no issue. What I've tried: - I've tested the report with a random image URL from the web and that works fine. - Tested hard coding the URL directly into the expression field but no luck there. - Followed MS guide :Add an external image to a paginated report (Report Builder) which didn't work since I do not want anyone with the SharePoint link to be able to access it. - I've tried converting the images in to Base64 formats and storing those but I can't do that because the datasource for the report is an MS List table and the character limit on those cells is too small to store image Base64 strings. I support I could split the Base64 string across multiple columns but unsure how to do this. I'm guessing the problem comes due to authentication issues between report builder and SharePoint but I don't know for sure. Any help or alternative method advice would be greatly appreciated!Solved1.5KViews0likes1CommentPower BI Report update sharepoint
Hello, We already have a report published in Power Bi. We improved the report and saved it under the same name on our sharepoint (onedrive). The old report was archived. Now we want the report dataset to be updatet with the new report (which has the same name) in power Bi. How does this work? We dont want to delete the whole report in Power Bi and then upload it again. We want to just update the already excisted report with the new file on our sharepoint. Thank you!Solved691Views1like2Comments
