Power BI - App Access Issue
Hi, At our organization, we have recently stumbled on an issue where the users are prompted the following error when given access to the App. " Permission required You cannot see the content of this report because you do not have permission to the underlying dataset. Please contact the dataset owner to request access. " This is the first time we are facing an issue of this sort. We have a workspace meant for collaboration and another for viewing, which has an app published. We provide access to the app using the standard "update app" method, which we have used so far to administer access successfully. Not sure if it is a bug and when we can expect any resolution on this. Regards, P
Data missing in workspace
Hello, I tried to export report from Power BI workspace. There are total 91626 rows but I only got 90125 rows in my result. I went back to the workspace and found some weird thing. I tried to filter the data by subsystem, in the filter I can see there are 28 rows for (blank), but in my dashboard, there are only 3. It happened in some other places too. I double checked all my filters, I didn't have any other filter enabled. I am gussing this is why I see 91626 total rows but in the exporting result I only get 90125. Could anyone tell me why is this happening and how could I fix this? Much appreciated! Thanks, Sam
Need help choosing between Power BI Embedded and Power BI Report Server editions
Hi, I need a little help clearing up some terminology and managing some business expectations please. I'm sorry this is a lengthy post, I hope it reads quicker than it looks. Background We have an online application which currently has a report page which has a rolled up view of transactions (by category) and allows drill-down from the aggregated view right down to listing the transactions. If I click on a transaction I am then taken to the appropriate page in the application to view the transaction. We are looking to replace this bespoke functionality that we built ourselves with Power BI so that we not only replace the on-platform reports we have, but also so that we can develop reports using a best-in-breed tool without the need of significant custom development. The idea we currently have is to build the reports and then embed them into a page on our application. This is why we assume that Power BI Embedded would be the right tool for that to work. However, if we need to do development on our pages each time we have added a new report, or in the future, some dashboard component, then maybe we've looked at the wrong version of Power BI. Expectation The expectation is to have a white labelled (branded like our application) reporting and dashboard capability accessible by users who are logged into our application who can only access the data which is associated to their organisation in a multi-tenant environment. As all of our client data is held on-premises, we would prefer to also process the data on-premise rather than have to continually move it to the cloud for processing. Day one It would be for reports which are run and delivered to various parties on a schedule and on-demand. The reports can also be opened from our platform and interacted with (drill-down) but not necessarily in our own interface if it looks like our brand. It might also navigate users to individual transactions in our application (if it can be done, isn't that deep linking?). We would also restrict the creation of reports to internal users rather than our client's who would simply be data consumers. The reports would be be performed against end of last business day and no real-time data required. Day Two There are real-time statistics that we would want to deliver to our clients and we would use our event messaging service (Solace) and setup an ESP (Event Stream Processing) capability to respond to new data events as they come in. These 'tiles' might be displayed on a dedicated dashboard page or, prefereably, available incorporated within our pages. Conclusion Given the background and our expectations, what are the pros and cons on the different types of Power BI? Does any one of the solutions stand out as the best one for the job? What are the trade-offs to consider (example, if Embedded Power BI only works in the cloud then I need to understand what compromises or resets of expectations to make). Hi! I'm creating a matrix containing financial data. My data is from an SSAS source and therefore I can´t create custom columns or use the data och relationship tabs. Option one is to group five of my accounts together as a group to use as a column. Is there any way I can do that using a measure or IF-statement? I can not filter the accounts on the formatting of the fields tab, The other option is to filter the same column in two different ways in my report based on if the value is negative or positive. Green: Net income based on all costumers Red: Cost based of a group of costumers excluding the others. Hope you can help me, thanks!
Connect to Power BI Report Server or Report Server 2016 from iOS Power BI App
Hi, I have VPN software on my phone. I am able to activate and then browse to my report servers and see reports after entering windows credentials. However, the reports don't render the phone layouts. I've read I need to use Power BI app to see phone layout. When attempting to add the report server - either 2016 or Power BI, I get an error: Server address isn't valid: The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is prentending to be "reportserver.domain.com" which could put your confidential information at risk. Verify the address is a SQL Server Reporting Services address and try again. Can anyone tell me what the issue might be? I'm suspecting I need the root server certificate for my organization or something similar on my device. Thanks, Sam
Power BI Report does not show
Dear Microsoft-Team, we really struggle with combining the on-premise Power BI Report Server (June Release) with the current Power BI apps in iOS Store and Windows Store. For the connection we had to install the root certificates of our company on the corresponding phones. The connection via browser to the server is then working fine. -- However, the SSRS/Power BI Server ignores the mobile views of Power BI Reports on normal browsers (Safari/Chrome) completely. Is this by design/intention? So, we figured out we need to use the "Power BI Mobile" app, available in the mobile vendor's stores. Here we face even more problems: On windows phone 10 (Lumia 650) we can connect without problems after the installation of the root certificates but not a single report created with Power BI Desktop is visible but only the KPIs we created. -- Simply not rendering the Power BI Reports. On new iPhones it seems to work, BUT the connection URL is not always taken. We had "experiences" where we needed to connect with the "ReportServer/browse" then remove the "browse" of the URL and then everything went fine. On older iPhones like the "SE" we cannot establish the SSL connection because some ciphers for the TLS layer seem to be missing on this device. In the end, we just want to establish mobile reporting with Power BI Reports in our company. So far, we do not see how we could do this with "on-premise" Power BI only. Hi all, I have installed the Power BI Report Server on-premisis and I have developed a report with a "Report Level Filter". I connected my iPad with the Power BI Report Server on-premisis but I can't see the icon that permit to use the filter. How can enable the "Report level Filter" on my App with last version of Power BI Report Server? Regards
