Our client (Company A) and our project team has faced the difficulties below to deploy Power BI Report server solutions. Can you advise how we can get support on that? Company A ’s Requirement: Due to security concerns, users need to get the data in Company A ’s Oracle DB without directly connecting to Company A ’s Oracle DB. Our current solution: First, we create a Data Source connecting to Oracle DB in Power BI Report Server by using ADO.net Connector with SSL (Oracle Wallet). Then, we create a Dataset using the Data Source. And the last, users use Odata Feed connecter in Power BI Desktop/Excel or Postman to connect to the Dataset with Power BI user authentication with Company A's Active Directory. The problems of current solution: Not able to load data into Power BI Desktop/Excel/Postman from Dataset using Odata when the amount of data is large (Timeout occurred), any sizing guide or limitation on this? Not able to create Data Source connecting to Oracle DB by using ADO.net by SSL with Wallet The additional concerns: Limitations of concurrent user capacity Any other solutions could cope with the need required? Thanks for your advice!530Views0likes0CommentsConfigure Data Gateway to Hosted Environment
Has anyone setup a data gateway with a hosted environment with an oracle database? Were their any issues that you encounted during the setup? Afterwards were you successfully able to import the data into a dataset and onto a dashboard, etc.?Solved805Views0likes2CommentsCan't connect to Oracle Database from Microsoft Report Builder
Hi, I have installed the 32 bit of ODAC on my laptop. The installer gave me the option for machine wide level but not GAC something (The option was not there. It used to be there). I can connect Power BI desktop to the Oracle Database but not report builder. It is giving me the below issue: "An attempt has been made to use a data extension 'ORACLE' that is either not registered for this report server or is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services." I think I have 64 bit or 32 bit on server. I am not sure, but it is working fine for Power BI files on server. I also have Power BI Deskop x64 and it is working fine. I am using the below connection string: Data Source=Service_Name;User Id=user;Password=password;Integrated Security=no; Could you please help?Solved13KViews0likes7CommentsThe credentials provided for the Oracle source are invalid
Hello! I'm having some 'odd' error on a handful of our scheduled refreshes. They are returning the following error: 'The credentials provided for the Oracle source are invalid' If you do a 'Test Connection' under Manage > Data Source, it will return successfully. The oracle IDs are not locked or have an expired password. Also, I have some reports refreshing successfully, and others returning this error while using the same data source and authentication, and credentials on both. And users are able to query the same data successfully from their desktop, so it's not a data access issue. Any ideas? Thanks!Solved5.9KViews0likes10CommentsOracle database connection error in Power BI Report Server - On Premise
Hi, I have created a report in Power BI Desktop August 2018 version. The reports read from Oracle Database and the connection is successfull. I have uploaded the report to an On-Premise Power Bi report server August 2018 version. I want to schedule the data refresh for every 1 hour and when I tried testing the connection, It displays the below error saying "The provider being used is deprecated: 'System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater.'. Please visit https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkID=272376 to install the official provider" The server contains the latest ODAC components including Oracle client 12.2. Also I have added appropriate tnsnames.ORA file in the respective path. Still could'nt figure what is to be done to resolve the error. Kindly provide suggestions. Hola Comunidad, Me aparece el error adjunto cuando hago la actualizacion de mis datos, no se si es un error de la conexion de la puerta de enlace o de la conexion con la data de Oracle. Pero ya he intentado de todo y no funciona. ---------------- Hi Community, I get the attached error when I update my data, I don't know if it is an error in the connection of the gateway or the connection with the Oracle data. But I have already tried everything and it doesn't work. Thanks.640Views0likes0CommentsHelp with: Connecting Oracle Database to Power-BI Report Server desktop
Hi, I have struggled with a simple issue for days now. I need to connect to an Oracle Database and retreive data from there, but I cant make it work. I have followed the steps in the following microsoft link: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/desktop-connect-oracle-database My Power-BI report server desktop is 64-bit version which is in line with my computer. I have downloaded both 32- and 64-bit ODAC 122011 (Not the Xcopy version) and saved them in different directories. I have also tried an earlier version of both 32- and 64-bit ODAC 121024. - I always tick the box of Machine Wide configuration in the installation of the ODAC - I always run the installation as administrator - I even unpackaged the .zip file in temp to isolate the file from onedrive connection - I have all the TNS information and access in order to connect to the database (I can connect it through oracle developer). * I always untick the "Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio" in the installation of the 32-bit ODAC versions - because i cannot install the ODAC with this ticked due to the fact that I dont have visual studio installed. Despite this, I always get the messege from Power-BI that I have not installed the Oracle client once I try to retreive data from an Oracle Database. Am I doing something wrong or am I missing anything? Do I need visual studio to just connect to an oracle DB? Best, HwebSolved1.7KViews0likes2CommentsORACLE 19
Hi guys, we are using on-premise PBIRS. We installed ORALCE drivers on the server as described in this documentation: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/reporting-services/report-data/oracle-connection-type-ssrs?view=sql-server-ver15 We used 18.3 version of the driver, because it is what the documentation suggests. All works like charm. Our problem is, we need to use the latest version of the driver, 19.3.1, because that's what we use everywhere else. I tried the above instruction with this version, but the connections to ORACLE end with "connection lost" error. My questions are: Is 19.x version of the drivers supported by Microsoft? If not, when will be the support added? Did anybody of you persuade PBIRS to work with ORACLE 19.x drivers? So far we use paginated reports only, so crucial is to have functional rendering of RDL reports with the latest driver. We do not use OLEDB/ODBC because of various problems - we need ODAC.
